Excursion to Beryl's Chocolate Factory, Sri Kembangan

A group of 55 children accompanied by 6 teachers visited the Beryl's Chocolate Factory at Sri Kembangan. Earlier, on the way the children were treated to a snack at KFC restaurant.

The group were given a briefing at their mini auditorium before the factory tour. The actual tour was a short 15 minute session. However, the children were wide-eyed and all ears taking in the scene.

Who wouldn't? It was C H O C O L A T E after all.

The trip was educational not only to the children but to the adults, too. Who would have thought the story of chocolate started at South America - the Aztec period! Hmmmmm.......

At the end of the visit the school bought some chocolate for each and every children participated.

The following are some of the photos. Unfortunately no photos were taken inside the factory due to obvious reason.

Concert 2015

On 1 November 2015 we had our 20th. Annual Concert at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM). It was officiated by the Sentul OCPD, Tuan ACP R.Munusamy. It was also attended by Chairman of 'Tamilar Aikiya Sangam', Mr. S. Ramalingam and Chairman of MIC Hang Tuah Branch, Mr. M Vetrivelan.

The theme for this year's concert was "Healthy Food Happy Living".

It was a celeberatory atmosphere with parents, grand parents and siblings of our student. Some were even accompanied by uncles and aunts. Aside from the concert to showcase the talents of the children, about 28 of them also 'graduated' on that day.

The concert ended at about 12 noon and the children and their parents were treated with a buffet lunch.

The following were photographs captured during the concert.

Visit to Zoo Negara

Since we are at the tail end of the year, we thought it would be nice for the 6-years old to go out together somewhere. Hence we decided to organise a trip to the National Zoological Garden (Zoo Negara). However not all 6-years turned up; so we included several 5 and 4 years old to make up the crowd. Not only that, three former students decided to join us.

It was a pleasant morning. However some parts of Zoo Negara is under renovation, including the usual venue for animal show. So the children missed the shows. However, overall they enjoyed the trip; which included a stop at the fast food restaurant.

The following are some of the photographs of the trip.

The trip included a visit to Panda enclosure. However it was siesta time for our hero.

Class Party

Today, 20/11/2015, we had our class party. Although next week is extension week where children are required to attend class, there is no gurantee that all will turn up. When their older sister or brother from primary school is running riot around the house, the younger one will be reluctant to go to school, naturally.

A few former student also turned up, making the party more enjoyable. These are students who left us about 5 years ago!

No uniform and no bag. Just casual attire for fun and frolicks.

This is supposed to be KG class.

A little game in 'Frozen' clothes!

Tug-of-war in 'Frozen' attire.

We hope the children had fun; we know we had.

End of School Year 2015

Most schools are winding up the 2015 school year by this week. Children are looking forward to the long holidays.... Visit to grandma and grandpa's place, holidays or even some foreign visit for the lucky few.

But not for Sri Gombak Montessori Kindergarten children! They have to wait another week before starting their holiday.

We are breaking one week later. Our centre closes on 27 November 2015.

This year has been rather unusual in that in January the school year started late due to major flooding in parts of Malaysia. In October, we were interrupted by haze. Just to make up for the lost time we have to extend the school year.

Usually we do extend if the school year end on first or second week of November so that parents will not feel bad about paying November fee. And we usually don't extend if the year end break starts in third week. But as I said earlier, this year is rather unusual.

As for the staffs, well, we will be here preparing for 2016. Maybe take a one-week holiday and unwind a bit. However second week onward, we'll be here, whoever wants to visit us may do so starting 7 December 2015.

By the way the number of seats left for morning session next year is fast filling up. If you want to register for morning session, you'll have to hurry up.

2015 School Year

2015 is here, but it comes with some confusion as far as kindergartens are concerned. Actually there is no confusion at all..... it's just that people interpreted MOE directive differently! More about this later.

But first, we would like to register our heart felt sympathy for the victims of Air Asia Indonesia Flight QZ8501 tragedy and also of Malaysia's worst flood.

Now, back to the MOE directive..... Although most parents have accepted the directive, some parents are quibbling why we have to defer the reopening of school till 12th. January. Well, a directive is a directive and we can't just ignore that.

Sri Gombak Montessori Kindergarten  is registered with Selangor State Education Department. We called Shah Alam twice to enquire and later to reconfirm the directive and we were told to go along with it.   The official directive from the Director General of Education is attached below; and it clearly states the intention of the government.

KENYATAAN MEDIA
KETUA PENGARAH PELAJARAN MALAYSIA
Penjelasan Penangguhan Sesi Persekolahan Tahun 2015
Akibat Banjir

Terima kasih.
