2015 School Year

2015 is here, but it comes with some confusion as far as kindergartens are concerned. Actually there is no confusion at all..... it's just that people interpreted MOE directive differently! More about this later.

But first, we would like to register our heart felt sympathy for the victims of Air Asia Indonesia Flight QZ8501 tragedy and also of Malaysia's worst flood.

Now, back to the MOE directive..... Although most parents have accepted the directive, some parents are quibbling why we have to defer the reopening of school till 12th. January. Well, a directive is a directive and we can't just ignore that.

Sri Gombak Montessori Kindergarten  is registered with Selangor State Education Department. We called Shah Alam twice to enquire and later to reconfirm the directive and we were told to go along with it.   The official directive from the Director General of Education is attached below; and it clearly states the intention of the government.

KENYATAAN MEDIA
KETUA PENGARAH PELAJARAN MALAYSIA
Penjelasan Penangguhan Sesi Persekolahan Tahun 2015
Akibat Banjir

Terima kasih.

Visit to National Zoo

On 20 November 2014, 43 children accompanied by 4 teachers and staff visited the National Zoological Garden. It was kind of 'last hurrah' for the Advanced class children before going different ways. There were some Intermediate class as well as a few KG2 children, too.  Off course the children were eager to see the star attraction at the Zoo - a pair of Giant Panda. There were other new additions, too: white Bengal tiger, and butterfly garden. Although the white tiger was a disappointment - he refused to come out, the children enjoyed the Giant Panda enclosure and the butterfly garden.

Mid way through the visit the children were treated to a snack at the fast-food restaurant within the Zoo. The following are some of the photographs taken during the visit.

Curiosity - the key to learning!

It was a worthwhile trip to the zoo as the children enjoyed every minute of the visit.

Fun Camp 2014

The year-end holiday had started! While some parents will take the opportunity to visit their home town others may not be so lucky. If they are working they will have their hand full with their young children running around the house not knowing what to do.

If you want your child to spend their time in a useful manner for 2 weeks, we have a solution for you!

We are organising a fun camp on 1 - 12 December 2014 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon on week days. The children will spend quality time with our teachers. There will be activities that are fun and at the same time enable the children to discover themselves.

The fun camp is opened to children of 4 - 8 years old. The fee is RM 150.00 per child.

If interested please call Mrs. Nathan at 012-6791155 or Uncle Kasi at 010-2316158. The number of children accepted is limited to 25.

Parents' Day - when parents give their verdict on our performance as well ......

We had our Parents' day for the Second Semester today, 1 November 2014. Of course we invite the parents to discuss their children's performance in the second semester and compare with the first semester performance as well.

This is the formal meet aside from the ad-hoc, 'drop-in-on-my-way-to-office' kind of discussion. Parents were allotted specific time to meet the teachers.

Some of the parents also gave their verdict on our performance....
Of course there will be some negative comments, but we accept those with open mind and use that to further improve ourselves.

But mostly it was all around good marks!!

It is so gratifying when parents tell us how much their children have improved since starting here. This is especially true for those children who started with us when they were just little toddlers of 3 and 4 years old and now leaving us after spending several years with us. To know that we have really moulded them into a bright children with minds ready for further reinforcement at primary level is something worth experiencing again and again.

Of course this will follow soon by letters thanking us written by happy parents.

We look forward to do this again and again in the future.

We are open for registration!

It's that time of the year....

Parents will be starting to look around for a suitable centre for their children to start pre-school education next year.

There are various kindergartens around Seri Gombak /Pinggiran Batu Caves /Bukit Permata areas. Parents have choices to select whether they want to send their children to recognised and established centres or run-of-the-mill  type. Even worse are the one who did not even register with JPN!

Well let us not talk about others...

What we offer is our solid-gold reputation!!!
Go ask the primary schools in Taman Seri Gombak. We have built a reputation for producing the brightest and well rounded children.  We established the centre in 1995. Some of the teachers are with us ever since. Our curriculum was developed based on the  experiences of teachers who worked in some of the best centres in KL and PJ, including an international school. The curriculum has been refined over the years based on changing environment and the teacher's own improvement in knowledge.

Now we are open for new registration for the year 2015. Parents may visit us during office hours or make appointment to visit after office or even weekends.

Please call 6185 6168 (office), 012-679 1155 (Mrs, Nathan), or 010-231 6158 (Kasi).

Busy bees the children are .....

It has been a while since I posted the last article.......

We have been a bit busy lately. The preparation for concert is ongoing. The children together with teachers are hard at work practising for the concert to be held in November.

The teachers, aside from preparing the children for the concert, have to ensure that the syllabus is completed.

The children, too are getting busier.... have to practice concert, homework and so on.

Saturday, 26 April 2014

On 22 April, 50 children accompanied by 6 teachers and staffs visited Aquaria, KLCC. On the way, we stopped at KFC Jalan Ipoh for breakfast where the children had a meal of burger and soft drink (fried chicken was packed to be given to them after the trip).

The children spent a good one and a half hour at Aquaria, including the feeding session which was particularly interesting to them. The following are some of the photos of the children. they even had a chance to see some of the creatures up close at the petting section.

We hope that it was a useful learning experience to the children pertaining the marine life.
